The Crash refers to the emergency landing of the Neo Shodai Ark on to their new homeworld of Rena in the stardate 707 GD. By this time the Ark had taken significant damage over the centuries from various encounters with interstellar threats, including but not limited to asteroid fields, solar flares, and cosmic creatures. Onboard the Ark the 10 genetically altered Sages had been reduced to 2 final protectors, Diri and Pontos. The Crash occurred when the Arkโ€™s onboard AI Solis was attempting to reboot the navigational systems. This brief lapse in navigation caused the Ark to veer into an unmarked asteroid belt and take massive damage to the hull and engines. During the Sageโ€™s journey aboard the Ark, a planet needed to rate at least an 80% success rate from Solisโ€™ scans of the topography and atmosphere before being considered as a viable candidate for the Neo Shodai homeworld. With the engines failing the Sages had no choice but to land on a planet in a nearby solar system that had recently been scanned with a 73% success rate. Taking manual control from Solis, the Sages crash landed the Ark onto the new planet. While the Neo Shodai infants were safe, the Ark was wrecked beyond repair. Although the Ark would never fly again the Sages made excellent use of it as a shelter for the first several years on their new homeworld while Solid ran daily scans to ensure the planet could sustain life.
