Chapter 1: I Hear Them
Planetary Scouting Report #23-163
Planet: Iso
Day: 7
After spending seven days on Iso, I have concluded that the planet is uninhabitable for the Shodai. The crust of the planet itself is made up of incredibly hard, igneous rock formed over millennia by the abundant volcanic activity. Even utilizing our most vigorous terraforming processes, it would be a moot point due to the harsh atmosphere. The planet is surrounded by a ring of mineral debris that frequently crashes down to the surface in massive crystalline structures. Terrifying. It is my opinion that Iso be left uncolonized for β wait.
I hearβ¦ people? Thatβs impossible. Our records indicate that this planet was never previously discovered and no life should be able to survive in an environment this extreme. But nevertheless, I hear them. Voices. Theyβ¦ sound distressed. Like they are in some kind of danger. This is highly unusual, but necessary for the Capital to know the full extent of what lies here on Iso.
I.. I must find them.
Chapter 2: I See Them
Planetary Scouting Report #23-163
Planet: Iso
Day: 10
The voices have led me to an incredible discovery beneath the surface. Some kind of door carved into the crust of the planet itself. The temperatures are far more extreme down here than above ground, as rivers of magma flow throughout these caves. There! I hear them again. Calling out for help. I have tried everything to locate the source of the voices, but the more I look, the more I realize this is no transmission. These invisible whispers are coming from inside my head, hallucinations of some kind. They confound me, but I cannot seem to let them go. Spirits, perhaps. Ever since our peopleβs encounter with The All, I have learned that there is much out there that cannot be explained by logic.
The voices grow stronger the closer I step to the door. Who could have built such an intricate structure? More importantly, what lies beyond this door? Is it a temple to some forgotten deity? A tomb for an ancient civilizationβs king? Or maybeβ¦a prison of some sort?
My body operates in opposition to my mind. I move to open the door despite caution, and as I touch the stone, it is strangely cold in comparison to the rest of this cavern. Like ice. By the time I open the door, I realize a moment too late that there is no doubt that what lies beyond it is something dark and wicked.
